The second Outreach session within the ERASMUS+ Skills4future International Project, organized by the National Institute for Economic Research, AESM

On October 11, 2024, the Agri-food economics and rural development department of NIER, AESM, organized the Outreach session regarding the implementation of the ERASMUS+ international project / ”Developing and improving the STEAM skills of students and teachers for curriculum innovation and sustainable development of higher education institutions and local businesses”- Skills4future. The topic of the session focused on promoting STEAM education and careers.

The session was opened by Ms. Dr. hab. Olga Gagauz, Director of NIER, who, in her welcoming speech, highlighted the importance of the event and noted the main achievements within NIER regarding the scientific research carried out and their connection with STEAM education and the promotion of a researcher career in the field of social and economic sciences.

The works within the event continued with a brief presentation of the skills4future project, introducing the participants to the project objectives, the role of NIER researchers, as well as the most recent activities implemented within the project.

The session continued with presentations dedicated to the promotion of STEAM education and career. The presentations focused on the main research directions of NIER related to the promotion of STEAM education and career. Also, proposals and recommendations were highlighted regarding attracting young people to research activities, as well as in business start-ups, emphasizing the need of STEAM skills acquired at universities.

The discussion and debate part involved representatives from higher education institutions and research institutions from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania, who presented their own visions and good practices regarding the promotion of STEAM education. Representatives of the business environment, as well as central public bodies, highlighted the importance of STEAM in practice, noting that the skills acquired in these areas bring added value to future entrepreneurs.
