On December 5, 2024, the the Agri-food economics and rural development department of NIER, AESM, in collaboration with the Center of Excellence in Business Administration (CEAA), the Cooperative-Commercial University of Moldova organized the Multiplier Conference “STEAM Skills for Economic, Environmental and Social Responsibilities. Promoting STEAM Education and Careers”, within the framework of the international ERASMUS+ project ”Developing and improving the STEAM skills of students and teachers for curriculum innovation and sustainable development of higher education institutions and local businesses”- Skills4future.
The purpose of the Multiplier event was to: raise awareness of the role of STEAM education in solving economic, environmental and societal challenges at local and national levels, which would facilitate the further exploitation of the project results. The event was attended by teachers, students, business representatives and other stakeholders.
The session was opened by Ms. Metelchin Janna, Vice-Director of CEAA, who mentioned the importance of the project, regarding the involvement of the business environment, as well as the academic environment in improving the quality of studies and preparing specialists (students) according to the labor market.
The guests at the event had the opportunity to participate in discussions and debates that demonstrated the need for collaboration between the business environment, teachers and academia, confirming the fact that STEAM skills are important for future specialists in the field of business administration, in order to be able to face the multiple challenges of the competitive business environment. Representatives of the business environment (Iațișin Vitalie, director of CICH Navodari, Panfil Gheorghe Gospodăria Țărănească Agro-Panfil), shared their experience on the development of the Business 4.0 model and its importance in developing a sustainable business, and also discussed the opportunities and challenges faced by the business environment. The works continued with the presentation of the project, with emphasis placed on the role of NIER regarding STEAM skills for economic, environmental and social responsibilities.
In this regard, the Multiplier Conference “STEAM Skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) for Economic, Environmental and Social Responsibilities. Promoting STEAM Education and Careers”, will prepare young people and students to face the challenges encountered in the workplace.
