STEAM: PEER LEARNING SEMINAR E4.5: A STEP FORWARD IN DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS 4.0

On February 13-14, 2025, Alecu Russo Balti State University hosted the “Modern Strategies for Developing Sustainable Business 4.0 Models” seminar. The event brought together professors, experts, and students from various partner universities in Romania, Poland, and the Republic of Moldova, providing an interactive environment for sharing best practices and developing new perspectives on sustainable entrepreneurship.

The primary goal of this seminar was to deepen the understanding of Business 4.0, with a focus on sustainability, digitalization, and economic efficiency. Participants had the opportunity to learn about innovative business models and explore solutions for integrating them into the current economic environment.

During the interactive sessions, invited experts addressed key topics, including:

  • Sustainable Business Planning Models – Dr. Beatrice Leuștean, POLITEHNICA Bucharest
  • Trade-offs and Decision Matrix in Business Planning – Prof. Dr. Grigore Piroșcă, ASE Romania
  • Managing the Life Cycle of Sustainable Business Models – Dr. Andrzej Marcinkowski, Technical University of Lodz, Poland
  • Transforming Business Models in the Context of Industry 4.0 – Dr. Irina Dorogaia, ASEM
  • Defining Marketing and Sales Strategies for Sustainable Businesses – Dr. Irina Todos, USCH
  • Risk Planning and Management in Sustainable Business 4.0 – Dr. Alina Stratilă, TUM

The event also included a special student session, where participants showcased their sustainability-focused business plans. Among the presented projects were:

  • “Educational Eco-quests” – a project focused on ecological education through interactive experiences
  • “Electric Scooter and Bicycle Rental” – a solution for eco-friendly urban mobility
  • “Textile and Waste Recycling” – projects promoting the circular economy
  • “Eco Guesthouses” – developing environmentally friendly accommodation facilities

Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with lecturers and industry experts, present their ideas, and receive constructive feedback to further develop their projects.

The seminar marked a significant step in bridging the gap between academia and the business environment, providing students and professors with valuable resources for integrating sustainability principles into future businesses. Additionally, the event strengthened international partnerships between participating universities, contributing to the development of a strong collaborative network in education and entrepreneurship.
